I shaved mine a bit because my cousin invited me to go to the beach with him and having a bit of your pubes escaping your shorts is very ugly. But he ended up telling me he wouldn't come here before going anymore, which heavily implies he uninvited me. Some JB friend of his must have said "I don't want that old guy with us" or, even more probably, someone just told him they didn't want an adult around to potentially limit their drug use or something.
