So as my last post read I saw a gang of big, vicious dogs attacking my neighbors cat. Because of this I've been looking to get self defense weapons in case I ever encounter a vicious dog. I've been considering multiple weapons: cross bows, slingshots, clubs, air guns, stun guns, sprays, knives. To my knowledge not all of these are practical when it comes to dog defense.

At this moment I'm considering getting bear spray for long range defense. Had I had bear spray at hand I could have sprayed all the dogs who attacked the cat from my window. And if a dog ever charges at me I can spray it from a safe distance. I believe this to be a good choice because it covers a long distance, easy to aim, continuous, relatively compact, and is able to impair the breathing and sight of a dog. I'm also looking at knives but there's so many options. These two seem like the most sensible weapons for defense against dogs. I want something that's compact and able to easily stab and slash if I ever encounter a vicious relentless dog. I'm interested in any knives/blades as long they fit the criteria above. Right now I'm curious about a pocket knife and this particular fish gutting knife. Thing is I don't know enough about knives to know what would be a good self defense knife. I'm hoping for suggestions. Ideally, I want something strong, sharp, and sturdy enough to where I can stab through the dogs head or chest.

Does anyone got any suggestions?

Wild dogs should be in the damn forest not roaming in the street. Funny enough the dogs in my house area never made trouble at all even the wild one

All I know Is If it's a shitbull, I've heard numerous stories of glow niggers shooting one, only for the bullet to bounce off its skull. There are also accounts of a pit bull being shot multiple times and still continuing to attack.

If it's a wild dog or normal dog pepper spray and a knife should work.

Woah, I never heard of bullets bouncing off pit bulls. I've seen cases where they take multiple hard strikes to the head and still continue their attack, seemingly unfazed. Which is why I'm not considering getting a club. Which is why I'm leaning toward a knife, because if I pierce it I'm still able to kill it due to blood loss.

A gang of wild dogs is a terrifying sight.

I once saw them leaping between house gates while I was sitting having a smoke at 1am, it’s fascinating really. Regardless you need to be cautious around wild pack of them

Get a 10mm

Wd40 spray up their nose
And a wrench (aim for the legs or face)

If you incapacitate an alpha dog the rest of those jackals would flee

Remember once I was walking past this gated house with this dog in the front yard. It barks at me and I continue walking, suddenly it's behind me sniffing my bag of cat food. Made me realize that a lot of dogs just choose to stay behind fences unless given a reason

Sorry, not really considering legit guns. If I was in the country I would, but I'm in a city and they seem impractical for me to fire here.
What about simple Glock? You Americans atleast have the advantage with your legislation of guns, used it for fuck sake.

Since I'm in a city firing it will most likely cause a police presence. I might get charges for firing at dogs, might be seen as improper gun use and discharging in the city, and the bullet can cause damages or hit another person. And in terms of carrying a gun in public you have to get permission from the county. It's difficult to get that permission from my county. It just all seems impractical. If I was in the country and a pack of dog's was on my land I'd probably get an automatic and fire the clip on the dogs. In the city there's too much issues with a gun.

How about… a thick knife with mediums width, and of course sharp as fuck fitting to cut animals. I believe you can effort that and those kind of knife can be very versatile when accompanied by pepper spray

Yes, I'm thinking a knife is the best close range dog self defense weapon. Right now it's just finding the perfect knife. Lots of options, and I'm not really too familiar with the subject

They are fairly common in the country. They pack up for survival.

The far shooting stream kind of pepper spray works good for far away. The fog kind for nearby ones.

In the country, folks just shoot stray dogs before they become a problem. A collar is like a cheap insurance policy that pays you by giving you're doge a few chances to change its behavior, or die. (If being a nuisance...);;;

I carry a knife for that kind of shit but it's not ideal. You're not going to be able to stab the dog without getting bitten.

These beasts should be culled.

Yeah, I'm getting the knife for situations where I'm already getting mauled. If the dog is a really vicious dog then I think the best method to kill it is to stab it.

You need to let the dog bite your arm to keep it from biting your neck

stab their eyes and nose
