I found TED talk about how people character shift when they gain more and more wealth - generally speaking the richer you are the worst person you are, and statistically poor person is a nicer and more keen to help financially. Additionally wealthy people will make up any excuse and ignore facts just to explain why they are rich and your are not and why its your fault.
While original talk doesnt mention it - we all know there are studies that says that women PREFER rich men and rich men have more sex and more kids - Its yet another deadly blow straight into "its your character" and "be a good person" cope.
