High IQ. Asian culture isn't "patriarchal" with respect to male self-interest at all. If it is focused on sons, it perversely gives free reign to daughters projected to leave the house (in the West, invariably for White husbands), but places heavy demands on its sons to carry the family at the expense of their own autonomy. In the Confucian tradition, children are explicitly meant to serve under the institution of filial piety.
Asian mothers view their sons purely in terms of material gain. Their "love" is highly conditional: their only real goal is to keep a tight grip over every aspect of their sons' lives as future caregivers and meal tickets. The playbook is well-developed and circulated in their hen circles. They earn middle class wages but maintain lower class habits. They disallow social events until their sons' friend groups move on without them. They steer their sons away from sports and towards books until they become shut-ins. They discourage dating out; a White wife would recognize this abuse, turning their careful investment into economic units gone astray. Finally, decades later, they harangue their sons to produce grandchildren to continue the cycle.
This hasn't changed with the modern generation of Asian feminists. It's truly mind-boggling how much Asian women hate Asian men. Given a son or two, most women tend to become a little sympathetic to men's issues. But not Asian feminists: even as mothers, they are so aligned to advancing women over men that they work tirelessly to destroy their own sons. That's what their "high standards" are when you take off the mask — high control.
Asian women undermine Asian men at every opportunity. It's unfathomable how much damage they've done as mothers, sisters, and "friends" over the years.
