Let me give you some actual stats and numbers to put this into perspective:
In a well-known 2006 study at the University of Chicago, researchers found that Asian men need to earn $247,000 (or $384,991 after adjusting for inflation) MORE PER YEAR than an equivalent white man… just to be seen as “equally attractive” in the dating market.
Height is almost as bad. My height of 5’4” means I would have to make an additional $221,000 (or $345,776 after adjusting for inflation) in order to be as successful as a 5’11.5” tall man.
So combined, and after adjusting for inflation, I would need to make $730,767 MORE PER YEAR than an equivalent 5’11.5” white man just to be on the same playing field as him.
So taking into account that the average salary for a white man working full time in the US in 2024 is roughly $68,692, that means that in order to compete with a white guy of slightly above-average height, I would need a salary of $799,459 in today’s dollars.
