The conception most people have of romantic relationships is anachronistic and no longer exists in Western society. To Lacan, love is a fantasy of fusion with the love object as a way to cope with the fact that everybody is fundamentally alone (you look into a foids eyes, and you imagine a gaze staring back at you). The goal of a relationship is to attempt to achieve this fantasy. As Kant writes, a married couple forms a "united pair" that constitutes "a single moral being".
However, Western culture has moved away from the ideal of a united pair and towards the idea of the individual as the basic unit of social life. A big part of the changing social landscape is liberalism's incessant notion of the primarily self-interested individual, and individual autonomy and equality between individuals as the two ultimate moral values.
It's easy to see the effects of individualism in Western communities. For example, people prioritize their careers and personal success over interpersonal relationships. This is the reason why I say the Japanese (Asians but very Westernized Asians) are volcel. Everybody there is so obsessed with working that they literally don't have time to get married and have kids because they are working 120-hour work weeks. It might not be that bad in the West (yet), but foids here also put off relationships so they can go to college and after college focus on their careers.
The biggest reason relationships have changed and are on the way out is because the fundamental structure of relationships is seen as oppressive and stifling to the individual, an agent who is supposed to have autonomy to act in their own rational self-interest. This was the idea of the sexual revolution, that foids should be allowed to have sex outside marriage if they want to, that they shouldn't be expected to be virgins, that they should have the freedom to get an abortion and use contraception, etc. The idea of the individual is incompatible with the ideal of the united pair. This is the idea of feminism, that traditional relationships are patriarchal and oppressive etc.
The result of this is that sexuality is decoupled from traditional relationships, it is now something an individual does for their own pleasure, sexual consumerism. This is why we are seeing foids form massive chad harems of unprecedented size, and foids regularly getting body counts well into the hundreds or even thousands. They have abandoned themselves to the grossest pleasures with ungoverned fury.
I have no illusions about the priorities of foids. They are all whores. Even normies don't believe in love anymore, relationships now are interpreted more as a convenient way to get frequent sex. It is here that the old saying "she's not yours, it's just your turn" reaches its devasting apex. No foid is going to see themselves as a constituent of a united pair, they always will just care about themselves: their own sexual pleasure, their financial success (betabux) etc. JFL if you think the foid you are infatuated with is any different. If they at any point were exposed to Western liberalism, they are damaged goods. If she dresses in revealing clothing, has social media, went to university, is not a virgin, or had previous relationships, then it is clear she values individualism more and no longer has the capacity to love.
TLDR: the nature of relationships has changed and the ideal of love is no longer believed in because of the dominance of the individual in our culture
