A friend of the family that we've known for years came back from Italy, and complained to us (myself, parents, and sister) that the shop workers and locals overall were rude and cold.
Quick backstory on her: she's a Gen-Xer who was conventionally hot for most of her life, from preteen to 40s or so, but not so much anymore (OK, granted, she can still attract a simp who's into older women, but the downgrade is strongly evident) Why is this important? Because, its NOT that the locals were rude or standoffish or whatever, its just that she no longer gets the hot girl treatment anymore. I've read and come across different iterations of this - hot people who get old or gain weight and now treated like shit, and those who understand say "I always thought people were just nice"
For me, rudeness is so commonplace that I don't even notice it anymore - I've been with coworkers or acquaintances that have told me "she has such an attitude with you", and I never noticed. That's the life of a sub-5, people are by default assholes.
