8 years ago I was a part of this space guild on this game (I forgot the name). It was pretty good. Great players, Kino raids, it was fun the first few months. Then the leader fell in "love" with a "girl" he only met online. (S)he sent him pics of her but it was pretty obvious that she was a guy and those were fakes. Some of us tried to tell him but he chimped out on us. His love for this "foid" was enough for him to end friendships and kick them out of the guild. The second in command was great life-long friends with him. It was even implied they were great friends in real life but all that changed when he drew a picture of him and the foid's ingame avatar fugging. The guild leader was furious. He sent him death threats, he even let out some nasty secrets. Last thing we heard about him was him being sick with a deadly illness and the guild leader threw an ingame party for it. Could you believe that? A life long friend ship ended because of a foid that probably wasn't even a real foid. 2 years after that and they broke up because the guy got too clingy. The guild leader was so grief stricken that he cancelled this massive raid and even closed interviews. Only the most active members were allowed around him because he spent most of his time on the game and he needed people to talk to and only people he could trust. He started failing classes, cutting school, even eating. This "foid" had "her" claws on his life. Weeks later when he decided to send an apology youtube video which was just 4 minutes of him pouring his pathetic little heart out. I saw it before he deleted it. It was gross and hard to watch. Snot was all across his face, he was hysterical, he even started gagging.
He later admitted he poured all his money into making her happy despite the fact that they still never met in real life. 4 weeks later and 200 active members and friends were gone. There were like 8 of us left. A rumor spread about her having a new boyfriend and he closed down the guild. I quit the game overall because it sucked and that was the only reason to stay. A friend I used to keep track with told me he might have committed suicide.
He was only 17 years old.
