Thinking of getting into gaming as it is one of the better copes out there and in the not too far off future I will get a job, so I'll have some money to spend on vidya. Anyhow, I am a very stingy person and the laptop I use now barely can run Terraria, however in terms of hardware to price ratio one can not beat second-hand PS5s. Anyhow I'd like to play Far Cry 5, The Last of us series and Days Gone.

The thing is that if I will build a dedicated gaming PC it'll most likely go over the 350€ mark, for performance that is only a little better I think that I am looking at at least 700€. Also the thing is that new games are absolutely trash so I would have no reason to upgrade in the future, the PS5 is overkill really for like all offline games.

So what should I do? What platform is the best for me?

PC, unless you are particularly interested in some PS exclusive games like stellar blade.

even more expensive than that price, for 350 dollars you can only build something really budget partially out of used parts

Yeah, figured as much. Used PS5s are ridiculously cheap here. I could do a lot better with one of those than with a PC.

As a ps5 owner I can say consoles are dead and dying. Get a PC brother.

I reject ps5 simply because it's harder to pirate on, the games are usually more expensive and playing online requires paid subscription

What do you mean? That all the new games are PC exclusive? Yeah, I do not care about all the new games because those are woke garbage.

I could but I'd rather not spend all that much. Is the difference in quality all that relevant?
It's upto you tbh I'm an avid console gamer I just don't like the way they're going. The games library is very disappointing tbh. I don't have experience with PCs all that much but building a PC with pre owned parts will keep you set for a good while.

PC so you can pirate and emulate older games

Hmmm, that is troublesome. I don't like it when they add extra costs, however I really am not the online player type anyhow so it would likely not impact me.

the only case in which a PS5 would mog is if ur particularly interested in new modern games. otherwise, PC has way more options and access to games on a multitude of different consoles via emulation.

get some retro consoles that can't be emulated properly,
like N64, Saturn, Xbox original, to some extent even PS3
^jailbreak all of them to take rom files from flash carts or disk drive emulators,
play pre-2013 era games

for most modern stuff, just watch youtube videos

for rest, just emulate on your PC

PC obviously. You can save a lot money by pirating games & you can upgrade it 10 years later when newer games can't run on your PS5.

Define modern games. Idk, I like zombie games, though most are pre pandemic. If you define that as modern then I guess that I am into modern gaming. However I'm not interested into Elden Ring or shit like that.

Yeah but that sounds very expensive and it honestly doesn't seem like it'd be worth it. Again I am not a huge gamer and I am not a retro nerd either. I personally wouldn't call Far Cry 5 retro, so I do not see why I'd need all of that. Plus my budget is max 600 Euros for a device, then I'll need a monitor.

Realistically speaking how expensive are second hand disks nowadays? Like 15 Euros, 20 perhaps. I wouldn't care about that, honest to god. Like one game once every 3 months is really not a relevant expense to me. I play games really slow, plus I see no reason to every upgrade as the PS5 is obviously superior in terms of hardware in the context of modern games.

games that came out 2020 or later. basically modern consoles run modern games more consistently and PC ports of many modern games tend to be shittier. PC is far, far superior for people who mainly enjoy PS4 era and older games.

I see, still I think that I could jew it down to a PS4 if I really wanted to. There's no real reason for me to get a PC considering the huge costs associated with it.

A multi-purpose gaming laptop goes a long way.

perhaps you can put that money in escortmaxxing as most modern games are garbage

laptop is even more expansive per performance you get vs PC and it's shit quality
that's only if u play modern games. my budget gaming laptop runs PS4 games smoothly.

I have a kompoter and it's not really good specs wise but it can run new games at the lowest possible settings and older games at higher graphical settings( and i don't want anything more really. I am very content with it.). I don't care if the game looks shit as long as it runs fine. I also don't pay for games since i pirate them. The games you have mentioned are single player games so they can be pirated as well. My compoter is like my LDAR Machine. I sit in front of it the whole day. It wakes up when i do and sleeps when i do. I can switch between playing and using other copes as i wish, which is really rice. Actually it's a laptop. I wish had gotten a desktop casue of the major issue i have with laptops, which is that i can't upgrade the gpu, cpu and other parts(yeah i know i said i am content with my system but i might want to upgrade in the future who knows). I will have to buy a new rig all together. I am not tech savvy, so i might have said something wrong. Sorry about that.

I am not online type either and my "pc" is just a gaming laptop with medium specs. But it does what I need it to do. Only benefit with consoles is that playing them comes with a certain comfort. Otherwise a well build pc is better in every technical sense

one of those handhelds that can play steam games

Spend at least half of a year checking graphic cards prices. If You manage to get one at least at MSRP go for PC, the rest of components can be cheaper and it's easier to upgrade them later. I managed to get 4070s few bucks below MSRP during sale. If not, then just go scouting marketplaces or something. It shouldn't be that hard to find base 1TB disc version of PS5 for $400 with few games together. And building a library of physical PS5 games is not that hard if You keep buying from marketplaces. Definitely dont buy brand new. If You go the second hand market way I would even buy the ps+. From time to time You get a worthwhile game in there.

My priority would be 100% pc because of piracy and more games, but if your only option is to shill out 250% of MSRP to scalpers for 50 or 60 model cards for pc, then dont bother and go for ps5.

PC is much more expensive (if you actually wanna have a good one) but it's pretty good especially cuz of pirating and emulators.
I have both a PC (although not a very good one) and a ps5, I like both.

Yeah, I understand the benefits and drawbacks, but realistically given the fact that a PS5 is so god damn cheap I'd rather buy one of those. CDs can be purchased pretty cheap and still if I was to buy them alone they'd be around 20€. I could but 10 games and still be a lot cheaper off than if I was to build a PC.

Arguments for PC (my opinion)

- mods
- PC can be used for a lot more than just gaming
- emulating old consoles
- more FPS potential than consoles
- games on average a lot cheaper than on consoles thanks to Steam discounts and keys

I'd say so, not having to pay for MP + the ability to pirate + the ability to mod + the fact that you can do tons of other shit in a PC besides gaming

I feel like pc would be better because there are alot of options for gaming aswell as modding so you will be able to cope for alot longer

You would need to pay way more for a decent pc though so if price is that much of a problem go with the ps4 and save up money if you still want one

PC, Console games are overpriced to fuck and lack variety compared to PC and these “Game pass” things are a scam

PC if you have any know-how.

Even without pirating games, you'll save money in the long run and get far better performance. Along with there being endless options of games to play from PC to nearly every console ever made.

get a ps5, wait a few months until it gets jailbroken and pirate games on it. You’re not building a capable PC for 700 euros, much less with 350

PC without a doubt, and I'm a console gamer.

Ps5 won't be hacked any time soon

It already has been, I’m not sure which firmwares are affected but a used one, specifically from OG models are most likely running software capable of jailbreaking

PC is better because it's multi-purpose. For example, you can use any GPU you buy also for AI and stuff.

And obviously pirating is easier, modding is easier, online play doesn't cost money, there are so many reasons for a PC and few ones for a console.

Of course each system has its exclusives, so if you really want the PS5 exclusives and don't care about the PC exclusives it might still make sense to buy a PS5.
