We all know that young men are having it more difficult to get in romantic or sexual relationships than young women. Which means that women are going for a smaller number of men that are there (the 20/80 is not true though, it's probably more like 40/60).
But now look at this graph. Between 27-34 and especially after 38, men are starting to have more sex on average than women.
Now, there could be two explanations for this:
- Many men commit suicide around 40, so there are less men, meaning the men who survived have it easier to get laid, or
- Men become the hypergamous gender at old age. Many women become femcels in their 30s and 40s.
I think the first explanation doesn't add up. Men don't commit suicide at that high rate that it would explain the difference. The second explanation makes more sense imo.
It's also not true that women don't care about sex at old age. Women don't have a lower sex drive when they get older. In fact, many studies suggest women have a higher sex drive in their 30s and 40s. Surveys from OKCupid show that women in her 20s think sex once a week is ideal, but women in her 30s think sex every day is ideal. More women say sex is one of their favorite activities at 39 than at 18.
So, women who don't have sex at that age are really femcels. Like this 46 year-old woman who is celibate for 13 years
