The height of hierarchy in the West is upper class, white, urban liberal / sheltered areas, particularly in areas like New York or Los Angeles. These areas, for many reasons (the main of which is that these lives create a life of luxury that makes anti-social hedonism easy to get away with, so people create fake moral narratives to hide the social perception of being irresponsible) all tend towards Neoliberal, morally "progressive" social positions. Yet here's the thing. People who are genuinely high status in the West don't actually give a fuck about the meaning about any of these positions, and often pursue these positions because it generates status among their peer group.
The beliefs of these people are all kiddie-pool level shallow and inconsistent. Just look at their consistency on foreign policy! IRAQ WAR, AFGHANISTAN, MUH WAR CRIMES, BUT SLAVA UKRAINA, AMERICA IS THE WORLD'S POLICEMAN. LOL
The people who are genuinely "passionate" about these beliefs and take them literally seriously are, for the most part, missing the main point of these beliefs - social virtue signalling to the immediate peer group - and as such, are outside the hierarchical high status group. Most of the people who seriously pursue these beliefs like LGBT shit, immigration, feminism, are all ugly, weird, poor losers who are trying to mimick high status people in order to create a faux amount of social self-worth. Like the viceroy butterfly mimicking the monarch butterfly, but being actually tasty for consumption by the predators of our society.
The obsession, passion, and demonization of Trump isn't actually about Trump's policies. Rather, it's about status.
Trump was the top of the top of hierarchy. Billionaire, Slovenian model wife, successful children, friends with everyone. When he came out as a conservative, he challenged the social status of every elite in America who are predominately Neoliberal. They all, in a concerted effort, cast him out as a vagrabound and demonized him with the most intense hatred possible so they can stay secure in their social status and among their peer groups.
Lower caste Neoliberals follow that trend because they want to be viewed as higher class too. But the reality is, their sheer devotion and passion grosses out higher class people who actually have a life, kids, a family, businesses to run.
The conservatives have their own hierarchy they follow, but they are vagrabounds from the elites of the West, living on the outskirts as uneducated, stupid, inbred gross Republicans. Liberals demonize these people for social status, they don't possibly want to be viewed as redneck inbred Bible thumpers.
It was never about values, it was about hierarchy.
