Third is my favorite one. It was the one in which I started playing and it also contains the remakes for the first gen games. First gen is the best one in terms of Pokémon but the first games are too buggy, unbalanced and limited.

I used to love the Pokemon franchise, I'd even make sprites n shieet. Can't say that I'm into the newer games, though. Feels like they just hit a roadblock after Pokemon Black/White, and the quality of the franchise has been plummeting ever since.

Gen 3 for sure. Pokemon Emerald was my favorite main series game and Pokemon XD and Colosseum were my favorite Pokemon games overall.
Gen 4 was also good and is my 2nd favorite since Platinum was amazing and so was Heart Gold and Soul Silver.

4th because I grew up with it but 2nd is really good too. 5th even if it's not my favorite it's amazing how they could add so much content on a tiny DS cartridge.

I'm an oldcel, so it will always be the first. If I omit the nostalgia factor then it's five because no Pokemon game ever will be able to come with such a story again. That shit was pure high quality story.
