Nordid Types:
Hallstatt- The classic "Nordid" type & relatively unmixed, named after a village where they found Iron Age skeletal remains very similar to this. Common in North France primarily along the coast. Mesocephalic to Dolichocephalic skull, curved occiput, Hyperleptorrhine, straight nose. Face narrow & high, sloping forehead.
Anglo-Saxon- Formed by Hallstatt hybridizing with various Cro-Magnid strains. Common in North France, mainly on the coast. Nose is hyperleptorrhine, forehead high * somewhat sloped, Mesocephalic skull, and more robust than Hallstatt
Subnordid- Formed by Iron Age admixture of Hallstatt & West Alpinid; Common Nordid type in all of France, primarily in the East & North. More brachycephalic than other types with a "roundish" look to it. Forehead also less sloped & more round.
North Atlantid- Formed by Iron Age admixture of Gracile Mediterranid and/or Atlanto-Mediterranid with Hallstatt & Keltic-Nordid. common along the North Coast & Eastern Regions of France. Mesocephalic skull, prominent, hyperleptorrhine, long-tipped nose; Forehead is narrow and sloping.
Keltic Nordid- Formed by Iron Age mixing with Dinarid, associated with Celts in the region. Common in North & East France. The Keltic nose is long, large and high-bridged, characteristically prominent, and narrow to medium in breadth, with the skull shape being mesocephalic, somewhat similar to North Atlantid.
"Ancient Types:"
Ancient European type, quite similar to the population it is named on & most frequent in/exclusive to almost. Found mostly in the Basque regions of SW France, it has now been mixed heavily with Alpinid & Dinarid to give its modern image. Brachycephalic, round occiput; Nose leptorrhine, narrow face, sloped forehead, pointed chin.
