Inspired by @Castaway series on various phenotypes from countries/regions. Today, I will be covering France: However, since it has a lot I will split it in two.
Alpinid & Dinarid Types:
West Alpinid- Common in all of France expect for the Southern & North-East Coastal regions. Brachycephalic skull, wide face, great infraorbital distance, soft features, Leptorrhine, short nose, forehead steep & sometimes round. Often a Co-habitat of many mountainous regions with the Dinarid.
Dinarid- Common in the Alps-adjacaent regions & Central France; often hybridized with various other phenotypes.
Brachycephalic skull, flat occiput, hyperleptorrhine & convex nose. Elongated face with very "defined" features; forehead high, sloping, and broad.
Norid- Common in Northern & Eastern France. Lighter pigmentation of dinarid, more robust; hypothesized by some to have been the result of mixing with Nordid(or East Europid/Baltid in respective regions). Similar to above, except less narrow and forehead not as sloping.
Mediterranid Types:
Gracile Mediterranid- Common in Southern & Western France. Mesocephalic skull, gracile features, protruding occiput, straight+hyperleptorrhine nose. Often is mixed in coastal regions of North-Western Europe with Nordid, Atlanto-Mediterranid/Euraficanid, or Dinarid Whites.
Atlanto-Mediterranid/Eurafricanid- Found mostly on the Southern Coast of France, often is far less common -and also mixed with- Gracile Mediterranid. Dolichocephalic skull, leptorrhine nose, strong browridges, deep set eyes.
Dinaro(Dinaricized)-Mediterranid/Litorid- Found commonly on the coast of Southern France & Brittany: Hybrid type formed by ancient migrations across Europe+Coastal Asia Minor, as well as the natural selection for Dinariczied traits on Mediterranids. Often associated with the Ancient Romans. Mesocephalic skull, slightly flat occiput. Nose is convex, hyperleptorrhine, and often very narrow. High forehead, somewhat sloped, but less broad than Dinarid.
