Fascinating piece of media, they really thought it will stay the stame forever. Upon hearing it i got a soy moment and shed some tears. They're singing about a world that's gone but was still there not that long ago, although is indeed completely dead and burried by now. I remember the 90's in eastern Europe as a kid and although many things had already changed by that time it was still a very different world compared to know. Imo what can be defined as post-modernity is something that happened gradually, going way back, but the last decades (especially the ones pre-70's, this song is from 69) of the 20th century had a semblance of continuity with all of the past. But post-modernity really started to kick in at the beginning of the 21st century and took over completely as we speak.

Cowboys playing, young men slaying
Old men praying, the world will change
Schoolgirls dating, daughters mating
Mothers waiting to rearrange
Trendy worker, factory shirker
Social nurture won't let you down
Chairman bluster, boardroom fluster
Feather duster, your vintage crown
Tinker, tailor, soldier, sailor
Rich or poor man's wife
Some may wish to change their dish
But it's a way of life
Tinker, tailor
(La la la la)soldier, sailor
(La la la la)Rich or poor man's wife
(La la la la)Some may wish to change their dish
(La la la la)But it's a way of life
So be thankful for what you're given
And be good to your wife in bed
And look after the art of living
And don't forget you're a long time dead
When you're born it's a great big welcome
When you go it's a sad goodbye
Oh, with the bit in between your future
It's up to you if you laugh or cry
Cowboys playing, young men slaying
Old men praying, the world will change
Schoolgirls dating, daughters mating
Mothers waiting to rearrange
It's just a way of life
Just a way of life
Cowboys playing, young men slaying
Old men praying, the world will change
Schoolgirls dating, daughters mating
Mothers waiting to rearrange
Tinker, tailor, soldier, sailor
Rich or poor man's wife
Some may wish to change their dish
But it's a way of life
Tinker, tailor, soldier, sailor
Rich or poor man's wife
Some may wish to change their dish
But it's a way of life
:cryfeels:

Imagine having a loving wife and 5 kids and a feeling of community as a factory worker :dafuckfeels:

Some schools of thought hold that modernity ended in the late 20th century – in the 1980s or early 1990s –
I didn't even know what the muh academics consensus was on this, but i wasn't far and i was being generous on purpose, or maybe cause normies always try to brainwash you how "it was not better before" and yada yada yada :lul: so saying 80's instead of the 70's seemed too bold to me. Normies are all a bunch of liars anyway.

people at the beginning of the 70s drastically changed the culture of the west by voting for culturally subversive ideologies like feminism, multiculturism, pro lgtb shit and mass illegal migration.
the state of current society is entirely their own fucking fault and we have to suffer for it!

When that sweet, ethereal feminine voice universally defines men by their professions "tinker, tailor, soldier, sailor" and women by their marital status "rich or poor man's wife" :cryfeels:

Yes true this was the generation that fucked things up, not saying the opposite but tbh many things were out of their control. Like for example contraceptive pills becoming available to the public in 65, or the technological progress, or factories moving abroad and the economy generally changing, immigration etc. Although there was a general movement, it's hard or rather not fair to pinpoint it to individuals. Most people just go through history and suffer it instead of influencing it.
