Yeah paying for surgery would be positive, but they could do that also with redpilling like "no son you aren't ugly, you are average, but femoids only find the top 20% of men attractive so we will pay for your surgery". What made the difference here is paying for the surgery, not calling their son ugly or agreeing with him.

My mom always calls me "lindo" (gorgeous) and "bonitão" (handsome). When I mention my baldness, she always says stuff like "you'll not become completely bald, you're mixed with my family (even though I'm Norwood 3 to 4 at 30). When I mention my malformed ears, she says they're normal.

My father says women like bald men because they think they're potent. And that I look good when I'm well dressed.

I think it's a mix of blindness through parenthood status and being young at a time where someone like me would have had much bigger chances of ascending. My father literally points to stunning 7/10+ teens at the streets and says to me in Portuguese that they're good and would be good for me. Kek, he has no clue at all how bad things have turned for ugly men.
