To all bookwormcels: This guy is a fucking legend. Don't know for sure if he had in fact been incel most of his life, but from his books you can at least tell that he shares a real weird obsession for prostitutes.

Took a trip to Afghanistan in 1982.

He saw battle with the soldiers, who were engaged in warfare with the Soviet Union at the time, before he came down with dysentery and had to be dragged through the Hindu Kush mountains

Then got a job as computer programmer ("even though he had virtually no experiences with computers"), so began to write books instead.

According to a New York Times Magazine profile by the novelist Madison Smartt Bell, for a year Vollmann wrote much of his first novel, You Bright and Risen Angels, after hours on office computers, subsisting on candy bars from vending machines and hiding from the janitorial staff.

Also likes to disguise himself as woman.

Vollman began cross dressing in 2008 and has developed a female alter ego persona named Dolores which is documented in The Book of Dolores.

Another funny anectode: Became a suspect in the Unabomber case (possibly just because of Halo effect) and still has a classified FBI record.

Well, Wikipedia also gives the info that he is married and has a daughter. So just be a famous author theory confirmed.
