The first one? Definitely. I watched it for the first time a few months ago (I only watched Saw 2 and the sequels) and I was surprised by how much I liked the first one in comparison to the other Saw movies.

fun to watch, but as you get deeper into the franchise it just becomes one gory set piece after another for the entire movie. I really enjoy scenes like this though

I'm a big horror guy, or at least, I'd like to think so. I keep track of all the horror movies I've watched. I have watched around 400 now. I prefer foreign horror movies considering western horror movies rely on jump scares or gore too much; whereas foreign horror movies, especially Japanese horror movies, rely on atmosphere. A horror movie is only good, in my eyes, if it can either creep you out or scare you without really cheap scare tactics. As for the Saw movies, I only really like the first one, considering I'm not a fan of torture porn (movies like the Saw sequels, Hostel, etc). But the sequels are just ok, I'd guess. Some brutal stuff (like in Saw 3 with the chained up dude.... shudders).

woah you must be really into them to keep track of how many you have watched. I haven't watched to many forgeign horror movies but the few I have seen have been really good. I watched train to Busan on Netflix and loved it. one of the best zombie movies I have ever seen tbh. Considering how much you love them maybe I can get more into it. any you would recommend?
