If everyone practiced abstinence and waited until marriage there would be equal opportunity for all men to get laid. Seems like a rather cartoonish scenario to me. Missing some nuance I mean. No societal structure for you face. Plus marriage is always betabux for sub 7 or so men.

If abstinence was promoted, people would have sex secretly. A significative portion of people would just pretend they're abstinent.

This deceptive behavior would provide the perks of a sex life (not just the hedonistic aspect of it, but also the ability to manipulate sexually inexperienced people) without the biological problems (assuming they can be avoided with condoms, abortions and stuff).

As long as people have the right to privacy, it is naive to think sexual abstinence for everyone is in any way realistic.
