What was prison like?

i was banged up in hmp bristol, and it was ok, but pretty boring.
i spend most of my sentence in my cell and only came out for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
i also never went out for exercise, but i did get a job as a wing cleaner towards the end of my time there.

prisons not like how you hear it in movies or tv, its not a bleak, brutal cesspit, but not all prisons are equal though.
i was at bristol prison, not broadmoor, that place is pretty much british arkham asylum.
at bristol prison, there were no gangs, no violence and no real bad shit going on, most of the prisoners there just wanted to do their time and leave.

one thing i fucking hated about my time there was that i was constantly fobbed off by the guards whenever i wanted something for my cell like a telly, a chair, curtains or to get a job.
i got a telly for my cell, but never got a chair or curtains, and as for the wing cleaner job, i constantly fobbed off by the guards and i was on a waiting list for weeks.
by the time i finally got the job, i was a few days from being released.

but yeah, my time there was not bad, i rate hmp bristol 2 and a half stars out of 5.

Plus they have way worse job security. And I have to contribute to the bills and if I didn’t have a job I’d be screwed because there are no other family members to help except my mom

It’s almost like I’m kinda stuck doing what I am now because it at least had job security, but it’s stressful at times and I hate doing that shit and then coming home to just rot in loneliness and all that. Just gets old and it’s another area of life I suffer in.

I rode my bike to work and load up and drive a single axle van or truck around all day..
