As part of my job I am taking a 6 month long course that has 8 other students and a teacher.
Literally first day the tallest guys in the class are comparing heights and bragging about being "muh 6'5" and stuff and saying that 5'10" is tiny, to a 5'7 girl in the class. Literally a 20 minute discussion on height seemingly out of nowhere.
I dont want to reveal where I work but our work environment has a few constricted spaces, and the tall guys literally cannot resist complaining about how hard it is for them to get around because of their height, or how they bump their head into the wall sometimes because of their stature.
Every other three weeks or so the height conversation comes up time and time again. The funniest thing is that I am objectively the shortest person in that group, at 5'4", and do not contribute at all to the conversation, and they seem to ignore, at least in front of my face, how short I am. But given how obsessed these people are with height, I wouldn't be surprised that they think less of me for it and are not saying the quiet part out loud.
Mind you these aren't teenagers, we are a group of 27-34 year old individuals. Nothing has appreciably changed since I was in high-school or university. I truly believe that short guys wouldn't really think about their height if other people weren't so obsessed with it.
