the guy who wrote this comment is a legit retard for not picking up on that. struggle with mental illness is literally the primary theme of this movie. arthur clearly explained to the woman on the bus that he has a mental condition that makes him laugh uncontrollably during inappropriate times.
either this guy was not paying attention to the movie or he's just too fucking dumb to understand anything that isn't spelled out for him word by word. also arthur ended up almost getting fired for losing the sign later, of course he would try to get it back because there would be consequences if he didn't. man, as someone with an actual appreciation for cinema this just pisses me off. this guy clearly did not understand any of the basic content in the movie let alone the themes and symbolism involved
