Nightdive Studios announces development of System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster

This music will go on forever. Baby wake up, another shitty remake of a 30 yo game just dropped. Brought to you thanks to Unreal Engine.

The reignited trilogy was good though. It was almost perfect, on PC.

I even got the Xbox version to have it on disc. They have put love into tthe gsme, for sure and the controls are just sliiiiiiiightly off.

It was neither easier nor harder to beat.

I usually play the originals first and then play the reignited trilogy.

Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy sucked huge donkey balls though.

I only got it used on disc and it is such a pos that I want to resell it.
The fourth installment is fun though.

Learn how to read, they are not doing a remake but a remaster, it will be a minor update mostly for graphics and qol. It will be using KEX Engine as always with their remasters.

BS. Nightdive Remasters are ace! On top of their game! Bar none!

Occasionally they rearrange the balancing of combat, like what they did in Quake 2, for example.

They really do need to redesign The Many, as that section is almost unplayable.

Actually with The Thing it was way more than just a minor overhaul they remade entire rooms. And now flamethrower and fire effects look much cooler, plus with addition of dynamic lights. So if SS2 will be like than they i want to play it. Dark Forces remaster was pretty lazy so they are a mixed bag, but mostly good (Quake, The Thing and Doom were great).

Levine was only on SS2

it's funny how he wrote the same story hook into Thief 1, System Shock 2 and Bioshock though

i guess you could say the first System Shock was produced by Warren Spector, but his impact on that game was overstated, the game he had the most impact on was Deus Ex, and now he wants to disown it because it's "too redpilled"

what, where this ally to have and helps you isn't really and ally and betrays you?

yeah

then in Infinite there's a similar thing going on but with your own character

Awwww c'mon, why didn't you type this in "spoilers"? I haven't even beaten the game yet.

cos these games are over a decade old including Bioshock Infinite
Oh well. I quit playing it 2 years ago anyways. It felt too much like CoD. Lame a$$ follow up from the first two, imo.

i recall it unironically had CoD people working on it

I remember the plot twist in my Bioshock playthrough 3 years ago. I thought it was corny.

Gears players were shook
I played System Shock 2 before Bioshock. I wasn't the least bit satisfied with . I thought it was lazy and cliche. The same devs using the same plot twist in different titles I figured would be at least taboo enough where implementing it would be shunned, but I guess not.

Sounds about right. It encourages use of iron sights. Also, I thought the level design was extremely linear.

I didn't like the 3rd DLC for Quake 2 from Machine Games that they approved though. Gameplay is a complete mess. I question if they even play tested it.

I can't wait. I pre-ordered the System Shock remake so I'm getting it for free.

Quit multiple of my System Shock 2 playthroughs 5 years ago to wait for this one. Hopefully it's good.

One advantage of remasters of older games is making them compatible with modern systems as there are a lot of old games that do not work on newer computers.

As a case in point, it was a pain in the ass getting Dungeon Keeper II to work on Windows 10, and even then, you cannot make the resolution go above 800×600 and it is still somewhat unstable.

I also had to quit my playthrough of it. Couldn't get past the final area. The devs ran out of money, so they rushed the development of the last 3rd of the game, and it is pretty obvious by the time you get to The Many. Got stuck on the area twice, and never got past it. Horrible level design.

not free so day 1 pirate i ain't buying same game 2nd time especially since it's just a lazy remaster
I probably will buy it if they port it to the switch, as long as they fixed the final 3rd of the game so that it isn't shit.
