Twilight of the Idols (1889) by Friedrich Nietzsche

In physiological terms everything ugly weakens and saddens man. It reminds him of decay, danger, powerlessness: it actually makes him lose strength. You can measure the effect of ugly things with a dynamometer. Whenever man gets depressed, he senses something ‘ugly’ is nearby. His feeling of power, his will to power, his courage, his pride – all are diminished by ugliness and increased by beauty … Ugly things are understood as signs and symptoms of degenerescence … Any sign of exhaustion, of heaviness, … the whiff, the colour, the form of dissolution … all produce the same reaction, the value judgement ‘ugly’. A hatred springs up here: who is man hating here? But there is no doubt: the decline of his type.

"Nah bro, it's all in your head. Stop thinking about itand b happy on your own"

Based Nietzche.

This guy was a fuckin prophet. Him and Schopenhauer had some funny things to say about women as well.

Legit
We are hardwired to want distance from ugly things

Yeah, pretty much all philosophers and psychologists had scathing views of women, that’s what intelligence and study does.

He wanted to extinct us subhumans to make space for Überchad. High IQ tbh.

Not exactly, his works were bastardized by the Nazis to suit a far-right agenda.

Thanks for the necrobump. I remember a cuckitor who tried to argue with me that Nietzsche wasn't talking about physical ugliness in this excerpt, but ugly events / ugly acts.

Yeah right... Then why does he mention "the decline of his type". Sounds awfully like describing dysgenics.

Cuckitors will go to any length to deny that being ugly is bad. Makes you wonder, really...

We must admit, we are subhumans and that's a degeneracy from itself, we are an error of genetics. We can't go the way the nature wants us to, being strong, powerful, mating with foids and making childrens. There is a natural selection operating that separates us from the rest of the beautiful and strong chads. We are not fit to survive among humans, if it wasn't for this artificial society. Next step, Aktion T4 programm and eugenics, to defintiely cut subhumans like us from persevering, and create the ideal, Nietzschean race. Also sprach Zarathustra.

This is brilliant. You can tell he was trying to tread lightly around the matter though, and was apprehensive about going all out. I’d love to sit down with him over a whiskey and hear him vent his true thoughts on the matter, though of course he’d probably refuse and tell me that alcohol only dampens the will for change and makes one content with their own sorry state of affairs.

Nietzsche was against racism and anti-semitism because they reminded him too much of the slave resentment and slave morality of Christianity. Instead of proclaiming the value of the life of every human being, racism proclaimed the value of the life of every "Aryan", which already at the time included "white trash". There wasn't much difference to him.

But he was definitely in favor of amorality, rule of the fittest, beauty, strength. Were he born in later years he would have endorsed eugenics, and in even later years, transhumanism.

Nietzche was based af about everything except for religion.

Nietzsche was quite ugly himself btw, at least for today standards.

And who is he to not consider physical ugliness an act in itself? It is neither the external event witnessed but the event that occurs in the individual himself that have witness the ugliness that generate these feelings, be it physical or immaterial, ugliness is about the nature of the individual and not only events outside the very being.

It’s over, this life is not for us. We are the scum of the earth.

Yes, you can tell he was hesitating to go all-in. It's kind of awkward to yell "ugly people should just die!" when most of his academic friends were probably ugly.

And? That reminds me of cuckitors who disapprove of eugenics by writing that "you would be the first to be sterilized".

I would be glad to be sterilized for the greater good.

This inability to see further than the tip of one's nose, this inability to see further than self-interest, is the defining characteristic of the modern human.

Wait, I didn't say Nietzsche was wrong. I'm simply wondering if he meant only people who is TOTALLY AND UNIVERSALLY ugly, like for example deformed people, or also people who is considered contingentally ugly, like for example the average men that today are considered unattractive by post-Tinder foids but a century ago would have been considered, well, average.

Preach. If only those darn Proto-Indo-Europeans hadn’t left us with their cultural legacy, we’d be skipping in the meadows making daisy-chains right now.

That shows he knew what what he was talking about.

Nietzsche was definitely talking about physical ugliness. In Thus Spoke Zarathustra he goes at length about the world's ugliest man, and his attempts to disguise his repulsiveness, including the strategic use of a purple sash (kind of like PUA peacocking :feelshehe:)
Yeah, I also remember him talking trash about "sickly" lonely philosophers writing abstruse theories that try to shoehorn the world into them instead of living and enjoying life. We all know what sickly means in this regard. It's not about health.

But is is. Sickness of spirit is sickness of body.
