You guys know about the article about how, in DR Congo, 40% of women and 10% of men who claimed to have been sexually assaulted by armed fighters said that the person who assaulted them was a woman?
Well, this chick has decided to look at those conflicts and groups in general to see whether there's any link between female involvement in militant groups and the sexual violence they commit, and not only did she find the results I put as the title, but even that insignificant effect seems to be positive
.
The only thing she could cope with was that in the robustness check table, the insignificant influence of female leadership, as opposed to female frontline prevalence, had a negative rather than positive effect, but even then it was much smaller than frontline prevalence's in addition to both being insignificant.
Admittedly, it's not like this was done with exact percentages or anything, the database the data were from only had general descriptions of the prevalence of both the sexual violence and gender compositions of the militant forces, but still, it came from a database created by the experts on this stuff and with how many groups were profiled and documented there, you'd expect at least some reliable causation to pop up if there was any effect, but there wasn't. Literally the only thing that had an effect was that explicitly leftist, Marxist and so on groups committed less sexual violence than other groups, and that was something she noted was already known:

I mean, admittedly, that does make one wonder how an encounter between a purely-male leftist militants and right-wing groups with decent female representation would go and who would out-rape the other
.

In Congo, Female-on-Female Rape Also a Problem
In a secure darkened room, Marie, a 36-year-old mother of six, whispers and struggles to make eye contact. A shoe trader, she regularly travels by bus to sell her wares in remote parts of the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The absence of CRSV can also be a reflection of the ideology of a group. This has been seen in Marxist-Leninist groups where sexual violence is more rare, and other forms of violence against civilians is preferd (Loken, 2017). Many leftist organizations employ “platforms of gender egalitarianism” and promote restructuring of the existing patriarchal division of labor between women and men (Wood and Thaomas, 2017:34).
