2 years ago, I could easily find movies on putlocker, 123movies, megashare, etc. Whereas now finding the movie I want in HD is like finding a needle in a haystack. I may have to bite the bullet and get netflix.

I watch a variety of things. But for example, I had a hard time finding the Dark Knight. Took me 15 mins to find a high quality stream. I also love the show Nip/Tuck, and there aren't any high quality streams of that series either.
I think its all the streaming services teaming up to take the sites down.
Amazon, Youtube, Sony all have pay to watch streaming services now and expanding them.
Kodi was a popular free app you could install on almost any device and add-on streaming sites and tv but past year or two has barely anything now and its easier to use the websites to get movies.
I tried the free trial of youtube to finish watching their new show Origins, its pretty good. Won't renew sub after free trial, shows how much they competing against netflix and each other now.

If you dont work for a living to be able to pay for some entertainment, It is worthwhile to understand how torrents work. It is a peer to peer file transfer protocol, and it is safer to download a file (not saying to open any file) than to open a website that runs javascript etc that promises to serve you a stream.
