If they were in a firefight maybe, i read about some guy on Omaha beach that got shot like 5 times through his leg but didn't even notice it until someone pointed out that his boot was leaking blood. But generally from what i saw people describe the sensation as if you were hit with a sledgehammer, followed by a extreme burning sensation.

I was wondering this too. He screams a lot which surprised me. Perhaps it was maybe just instinct because he is able to talk normally after it. I know a kid that injured his arm during a high school football game and he didn’t even notice it immediately. He was escorted to the sideline before it hit him. I imagine that’s why fixing shoulders right after they have been dislocated doesn’t hurt that badly
