I plan to work on my handwriting for 30 days, and mark whatever I did for the day, and for how long, and show progress over time. I want to see if I can not make it look trash.

Today would be day one, obviously, I've already been working on it a little bit prior to this post, but here's what I'm starting with, which is absolutely horrible:

Oh, and I have major issues vis-a-vis my pencil grip, which I also ranted about today:

I also want to learn cursive, but probably not until my actual handwriting gets better... regardless, I wish death upon Ado and her family.

Didn't you learn cursive in grade school?

They taught us very briefly, and I mean very briefly. They had us write down a few letters, and that was pretty much the full extent of it. By the time I had moved onto Junior High, teaching cursive had already began to fall out of fashion, and zoomers these days absolutely can't do it for the life of them.

I can't even write lol

Shit. How do you sign you name then?

Shit. How do you sign you name then?
These days most things have 'print' options where you can just tick a box and type your name and it'll automatically make a signature for you. In the rare case it's a physical document, I'll usually just sign it digitally or write a very basic version of my name with standard lettering, just more curvy.

Yeah... it's a problem...

I envy you, it's going to be a pain for me to learn cursive, and I'll barely be able to use it anyway honestly, I just want to learn it for peace of mind.
Which cursive script?

Which cursive script?
I really wanted to learn Spencerian, but I think absolutely nobody would be able to read my writing if I used it. So I'm thinking of just going with Palmer or something else. What do you think?

Most people don't do cursive nowadays, so i think it doesn't matter if the average person can read it
I use Copperplate

You're right I suppose, I'll probably figure out what I'll do when it comes to it, but I currently need to work on fixing my block writing before anything else, my handwriting has always been less than average, and even though people barely handwrite anything anymore, I still think it would be nice to learn how to write better, since I think it'll translate to my art that I plan to draw.

I would learn Copperplate, but it's European, and I want to learn something American considering that I have great pride for my country and what we used to be. Now-a-days everything has gone to shit with zoomers and normgroids ruining everything, but I still like to think about how great we used to be.

My print handwriting has always been bad

That's understandable

Ugh. Non cursive handwriting, the worst kind..... You must be American. I fucking hate those gay non refined letters. But if you didn't know how to write prior to this I guess that they are very good.

Who tf doesn't know how to write? A truecel.

True, true.

Thanks for the suggestion brocel! I glanced at it and it's a foid, and I don't listen to foids, but I really am grateful you went out of your way to find me a channel.
No problem

Nigga you don't improve your handwriting by writing English letters try writing some essays and shit

Well yes, obviously. I do plan on writing full sentences and paragraphs, but I struggle with even keeping the letters aligned to begin with. I was just showing where I was at.

Day 2:

1734554200991

1734554217726

I mean... at least it's legible...

I've decided to replace my 'i's with a completely different version that instead involves looping it similarly to an 'l'. I've done so because I've come to realize that I'm actually horrible when it comes to drawing straight lines, and at drawing them to be the same height as the letters next to it, so it always looks messy. The capital version is even worse, but I'll probably get to that eventually.

The good news is, my pen grip is getting better. It's certainly still not perfect, but I keep forcing myself to consciously correct it when I can. The grip I'm trying to use is a standard tripod grip, where you pinch it with your thumb and index finger, and you support it with your middle finger. It's very different to my previous grip, but it's apparently the standard, and so I've begun to try and get used to it.

The issue is that I grip very tightly when holding it like that, but I hope eventually I'll fix that. I also am somewhat concerned that I'm not holding it exactly correctly, as my first joint in my index finger often bends quite a bit, and I'm not sure if it's supposed to be doing that or not.

I still need to work on keeping the letters organized and neat, they often are sometimes too high or low, and it is off-putting.

Day 3:

1734633263715

Unfortunately, I no longer had access to using the iPad since my sister figured out I stole it from her and took it back. So I had to write it here instead on paper. It isn't bad, but I still suffer from trying to get used to this new grip. It hurts my hand to write for ever a sentence or so, because my grip is insane. I don't feel like I can relax it though. My biggest letter I currently struggle with is probably 'h', as I can't seem to ever make it look nice. There's always something wrong with it. I also struggle to keep things on the line and spaced properly.

I still have a long way to go... what a pain.

I know that you're not doing cursive yet, but cursive is easier to write in a sentence since it flows better when writing it

I was thinking of starting to learn cursive on Day 15, hopefully. I still think it is important to develop my print handwriting though since on the very small chance someone does read my handwriting, I need it to be in print for them to comprehend it. I also fear that I'll develop bad habits if I rush into learning cursive, since I currently can't even really keep things oriented and spaced properly.

It's good to improve yourself but this is such a random (and useless) thing to improve.

My handwriting is terrible, I don't write cursive anymore. I remember when I was a kid I had good handwriting, I remember writing out long things and focusing on the aesthetic of my handwriting. I was naturally gifted at reading and writing (though I hated doing both). But it has no value. Most kids today don't even write, they type on computers. So long as it's legible, it's fine.

You're right, it is a pretty useless thing to improve. But if you're familiar with me, I always learn things that are useless to improve.

I just want to learn handwriting because I feel it is becoming a lost art, that's all. I don't even really plan for anyone to see it, but I have so much time on my hands as an incel, I may as well do something.

That's good, if it's not too time consuming. It's better than rotting. But why don't you find some things with some real reward at the end of them to be productive at? Like getting money, looksmaxxing or creating something.

I do all of those things as well (aside from looksmaxxing JFL, I'm 5'3), I have been studying the stock market and how to be financially independent for some time now, and I like to create videos and random things online.

Nice. I plan on doing all these things, but am lazy af so do absolutely nothing instead.

Day 4:

Still no iPad, so I'm still stuck with this old notebook I bought when I was like 12. I originally bought it to be a sort of diary, but I think I gave up as soon as I began to write about how much I hated myself in there. God it was so cringe JFL, it's still there at the beginning of the book, I flipped to a different section. Thank God no authorities or my family ever discovered the book, I forgot about the things I wrote in there, and I'd probably get arrested if it ever leaked JFL

Regardless, I think my handwriting is improving? I no longer feel like necking myself whenever looking at it, and switching from my standard straight l's and i's to instead looping both of them has made my handwriting look somewhat cleaner. I didn't have too much time to practice today though, since I was out with my (fictional) little sister at a buffet.

My largest issue is still my 'h' and 't'. I don't know why, but I just suck when it comes to drawing straight lines. I also have improved somewhat on ensuring that the letters stay on the line, but the letters obviously still vary wildly, especially in height.

Damn, and I thought I was the only one who has an unusual handwriting

Do you know cursive?
And what script, if you do?
I used a lot of cursive until late middle school/high school then I stopped because I didn't like it as much. Later on I tried to learn some cyrillic cursive but gave up quickly

I was only taught American cursive in school for one year and only know how to do my signature in it
I taught myself the cursive i use now

Day 5:

1734841356202

I have noticed that, while I have the correct idea with regards to how to properly grip my pencil, I still have one very large issue. That being, I flex my index finger way too much, and it will inevitably cause problems if I continue to keep it that way. I'm glad that I figured this out before I decided to learn cursive, but it's already hard enough to correct my pencil grip already, you're telling me I have to correct the correction?

It's so annoying...
