Absolutely phenomenal movie. I jumped in expecting another D tier horror slop like almost every Netflix garbo cringefest created only for the zoomer crowd to consume and then forget about its existence the next day. Turns out I was wrong. Very much wrong.
Not only I loved it cause I thought the narrative was almost flawless, but the prime reason I found the movie to be so enjoyable, so special and genuine to me was cause how I felt it was made solely for me and my kind. The main theme revolving around the entire movie and the key message it was trying to give out was how those who have been seriously wronged in this world (abused, bullied, ridiculed, humiliated, etc.) come out stronger and more “developed” and “mature” than those around them who’ve been blessed with normal lives.
Basically a more glorified version of the ‘what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger’ quote that normies love telling themselves so much but in a much more meaningful, much much more sentient way that I thought was impossible to ever do.
And this is exactly why I related to it so much. I lost my dad at a very young age and have been miraculously bullied and abused for pretty much my whole life. Have also been somewhat sexually assaulted like the main protagonist and have had girls making fun of me like the main antagonist so I was actually able to exactly feel what they were both going through.
Don’t even get me started on how good the acting was in this, man. It’s a crime McAvoy didn’t earn anything for this shit and the soundtrack… my goodness it was amazing.
I loved every second of this and cried like a pathetic little manchild at the end (this part in particular) which I don’t usually do with most movies. This one just caught me off guard and touched my heart in a way I wasn’t expecting.
Watch this movie brocels. It was fantastic and not even remotely scary. It’s one of those movies most normies will enjoy but only a few trucels would truly love and understand, similar to Joker. 10/10.
