Stereotypes are not intrinsically bad as many people seem to think. People really only hate stereotypes that are negative or condescending.

If I say Americans are fat, ignorant, and lazy, a lot of Americans will get mad. But if I say Americans are friendly people with a lot of pride for their great country, most won't care or they'll feel complimented.
