It really depends on the context, sometimes it would be better to hide whatever is in question, othertimes better to confront him about it. You can't just choose one and apply it to every incident in existence without thought.

You tell your father and do it anyway. A man does not conceal himself, his face or intentions.

If your father disagrees with you that is natural. He is not living your life. He does not have to bear the consequences of your choices.

If you are not yet a man but rather a boy, you should do neither of the things you mentioned. You should listen to and obey your father. He knows better than you.
