I'd suggest playing the game on the big screen as the colors look rather muted in portable mode. (Not sure if this is true for Switch oiled)

i personally prefer some of rise's views like the shrine ruins and kamura in particular, but goddamn if wvyern's end isnt one of the single coolest things ive seen in a videogame ever.

3u/tri if you have a 3ds/Wii u/Wii or can emulate. Portable 3rd might also be a good place to begin. 4 wouldn't be bad either.

Accessibility wise, if you have a switch MHGU goes on sell for $10 pretty frequently. World and Rise do too on all consoles and PC. Be aware World and Rise are very different from classic MH.
Classic Monster Hunter is more tense and focused on surviving a monsters onslaught, while post world Monster Hunter is more about empowering the player.
If you want to start with World or Rise, wait for a sell and make sure to get the dlc bundle. The dlcs are better than the base games when it comes to newer istalments.

My first mh was world i played for about 15 hours after that i played rise for over a 100 been wanting to get into the oldder ones on pc emulators
