This video is nostalgic to me. Reminds me of my childhood because i grew up (and still live) in a house like this one. But now, these days, houses are so boring They are so bland. Lack of colors, lack of decorations, etc.

It's because everything needs to be built fast, cheap and energy-efficient nowadays.
If you pay for a house you want it as soon as possible, you wouldn't wait 12 months longer so that some guy can hammer nice ornaments or some painter can paint the ceiling. It also can't be so large, because wide open rooms are extremly expensive to heat.
I don't like it, but I can understand that that's the way it is nowadays.

Rich nice people houses are always nicer, even in the banal contemporary styles, just because of better materials and quality control wrt to labor. Lots of shit gets thrown up due to housing being expensive (cuz lots of people are competing for it lol) so a lot gets thrown up with cheap materials and shit tier qa (get your house inspected!)

Customs might be an exception. Contemporary is perfect for this, little ornamentation, neutral/grey colour schemes that don't require much thought with matching (black cabinets go with everything!). They feel kinda sterile to me. Faux wood would be tolerable but does it have to be that deadened grey or that enervated off white?
