Everywhere I look, there are lots of weak men; grown men who still behave like little boys. You have guys 30+ years of age still playing video games, consuming things meant for children (I once had a coworker who still plays with legos ffs ), afraid of approaching and rejection, etc.
I have researched into various "primitive" cultures across the globe on how they define manhood, and almost all have one thing in common; a rite of passage that tests their manhood. This test is to ensure that they can successfully carry on the burden of being a man. With that said, modern society lack rites of passage - something that delineates a crossing of the boundary from boy to man. This boundary must be strictly enforced as to ensure weak men are kept to a minimum. So here are some rites of passage that I think can help boys coming into manhood, and help them cope with living in modern so(y)ciety.
- Going into the wilderness to experience solitude and extreme isolation. This should prepare men to live a life of solitude in the event they fail to find a partner.
- Take any possessions from your childhood, or anything with sentimental value, and burn it. Every man will experience loss, whether it's loss of their childhood, their oneitis, their hair, opportunities, etc. They need to learn to deal with loss. This ceremony is symbolic of that loss.
- Approach a highly attractive women with the intention of getting rejected. This is obvious, lots of men are afraid of approaching and rejection (including me), and they need to learn to get over the fear and deal with rejection.
