It would work great. This is the type of thing we could do if we were in charge of choosing mates for people.

A fine featured, weakling ricecel, who is smart, civilized and high level focus, would be a perfect match for a big, strong, fertile, out of control negro female.

Ya it could take a few generations of breeding, but we could get offspring who had good traits from both races. Like a tall, muscular, big dick ricecel would be a fearsome creature.
