Mental illness is a label society uses to silence those it does not approve of. It is used to discredit people who may serve as a threat to society, usually the truth. When someone is deemed mentally ill, the public will take what they say as false and highly unreliable, they are treated as dangerous losers who need to be locked up for their own good and everyone else's.

Society always had this tool, centuries ago it was accusations of blasphemy, before then it was sacrifices, honour killings. They all had a way to dispose of people they do not want. Now that society has to save face, they lock people in prisons and mental health facilities to dispose of them without the outcry for murdering.
Most mental illness cases are natural responses
If you have an extreme hatred for everything, chances are it is a natural response to feeling pain and hatred for your entire life. Depression and suicide are responses to the actions others and their environment had on them, it wasn't because their brain wasn't working properly. Being mad at someone because of what they did to you classifies as "mentally ill" nowadays, it is another way of gaslighting men for the actions of others.

It is no coincidence that we're all seen as mentally deranged and ill by everyone else, they want us to be silenced, society tries to stop people from the outside coming in with buzzwords like 'terrorism', 'radicalisation', 'extremism'. This also applies to individuals, they do not want people to be empathetic and understand these shooters as they may inspire more people to learn the truth, hence why EVERY shooter is labeled as mentally ill.
