Mental illness can be good. If a guy believes things that aren't true, that is to his advantage, as long as he's not hating himself or someone else.
I would not recommend he go out in Harlem thinking everyone is nice.
I would to recommend he think he's Superman and jump off a tall building. A kid did that back in 1973 and it made big news.
Here is what is good.
If a guy thinks his sex doll is alive, he has an advantage.
If a guy thinks he's John Travolta, The Fonz or Scott Baio, that's great.
If a guy thinks he's better than everyone else, that's good for him.
If a guy is fascinated watching planes take off or trains go by, that makes him happy.
Even homosexuals, who get sexual satisfaction from other guys, are WAY better off then me.
Anything that makes a guy feel great, is puts him in a better category.
Some guys are happier with a mental illness, then a normal guy who can't get a girl.
