idk how it is where you live but I've had pay taken from me when people stole from places I work. I once had the entire tip jar taken because some asshole stole a bunch of meat so no one got tips that day. I agree that workers get treated like shit but stealing wont make them get treated better.

I don't think that was legal tbh. Tips technically are the personal property of the workers already, once given.
It doesn't matter if its legal if it still happens though. Asshole bosses will find ways to punish you in ways that they won't get in trouble for. They usually know that it wont get reported or they will punish you in sneaky ways like never giving you hours or firing people for "other reasons" despite everyone knowing what it really was for.
