Looking for free program to recover deleted files

I deleted a couple of folders on an external hard drive by accident. I haven’t saved anything new to this hard drive, so the deleted files should still be fine.

I would like to recover them, but I don’t know which program I should use. I’m looking for a free program. I downloaded a few,and they can find my folders, but I would have to pay a fee to recover them. The free program Recuva is no good, the deep scan takes too long and the normal scan doesn’t find my deleted folders for some reason.

Sorry for late reply guys, was busy with some shit.

I think I did have some creepypastas on there, how did you know? But mostly it’s games and isos.

Already looked, it’s not in there, because the files were on an external hard drive. Or is there a way to make the files visible in the bin?

When you delete files on an external drive they don't go to the recycle bin

Installed photorec, it doesn’t run on my pc for some reason. Perhaps the download link was bad.

I tried some other “free” programs that asked me to pay a fee as soon as I attempted to restore my folders. This is rage fuel.

Looks like I have to stick to recuva. If everything fails, I will have to redownload all my files. These aren’t important files, mainly entertainment and some educational stuff. But it was nice having an offline collection.
