The GBA in many ways was the proto Nintendo switch/PSP. It was a handheld that was sold on basically being a portable SNES. Which at the time was extremely cool. As a child I did not have Internet access growing up, so being able to play games like Donkey Kong Country and Super Mario Bros 3 on the go was fun.

The issue is, that now after time has passed, the GBA isn't as attractive as it once was because basically every single phone can run a SNES emulator.

Luckily, the GBA did have some good original games that make it worth revisiting. Notably, Wario, Kirby, Metroid, Zelda. However, nowadays, I still revisit the DS more because the DS has way more original and interesting games. It's interesting because I used to much prefer the GBA untill I actually sat down and played it again.

The 3ds is sort of a balance because its library is a heavy mix of original games and remakes/ports. These remakes due typically offer better quality and are worth revisiting.

Thoughts?

I agree with your overall thoughts.

Battery life is much more important than graphics. Unfortunately normies ae too braindead to see it.

I remember having lots of fun with the DS when I was a child.

Normies used to see it. In the 90s the game gear flopped because it was infamous for its bad battery life. Unfortunately, seeing PS3 tier graphics on the go basically blew normies brains away.

Even if those games last 2/3 hours, they can't get past having such impressive graphics on a small screen.

DS was great. Arguably, the best Nintendo handheld in many ways. Battery life, library, comfortably. Which model did you have? I had a DS i.

The first one, before the variants.

Unfortunately my own broke down.
Honestly, I wouldn't be opposed to getting a new one, but I wouldn't know how to get games for it.
Like hell I would pay for original games, too expensive in my country.

Get an R4 card. They're extremely cheap and you can preload them with games via sd card. Or you can order one of those 500 in one cards off Amazon if you're too lazy.
