Look at the bright side, at least you can say your colleagues that you did have sex (should they ask you), and have cold sores to prove it.

A huge percentage of the population has a common strand of HIV that causes cold sores. It can occur by something as simple as getting a peck on the lips by a family member. If they're serious, though, go to the doctor. Cold sores can also be a sign of a compromised immune system (it's why a lot of people get them when they start falling ill) and if you haven't been sexually active then you definitely need to get that checked.
It's normal to have them, people are just weird. I had ring worm once and I used to think like everybody would think I had sex with multiple women and now am suffering from Herpes.
