Between birth and death it's just a hodgepodge of peoples' insecurity about meaning, eating food, and putting a roof over their head. Anything in between is irrelevant and just a manifestation of human desperation to feel as if life is not simply about surviving as long as one can while extracting as much resources from others in order to feel a sense of meaning and superiority.
