This is the lifecycle of any dating site/app. It starts out small with the developers trying to build an core attractive userbase - whether it's hip college students, young professionals, etc. Because beautiful people make any business better.

Then over time the weirdos, uglies and undesirables (inb4 "MISOGYNY!!" I'm talking bout both men and women here) get curious and start filling it up, hoping this app will be the magic bullet that finally gets them laid or in that relationship they've always wanted.

Before long, 90% of the app is people on the very bottom rung of the dating hierarchy. The attractive guys and girls get fed up of having to swim through all of this, and they leave for another app. Lather, rinse, repeat.

PlentyofFish and Match.com experienced this quite early on, look at the absolute carnivals those sites have become. OKCupid also started off as a quirky hip website for young liberals, now it's full of pink haired obese women who identify as sapiosexuals.

Tinder has also suffered the same fate. Now average tinder user(male) complains that the app is full of bots and they can’t get a match.

My normie friends used to be quite successful on these dating apps, like 5 years ago. Like legitimately getting dates with attractive women, and while those didn't lead to relationships.. they were able to meet like 4/10 women and start relationships with them. Granted those relationships didn't last long, but at least they were having some success. And then using the dating app again when they were single again.

Now my normie friends just can't accept that the game has changed. They are desperately using those dating apps, and having zero success.. only getting the rare date with like 3/10 women, that never lead to relationships.

Human beings don't change their habits easily though. So I could see these normies trying and failing again and again for a long time to come. But where I think it will make a difference is with new younger normies who try out the apps. If they never experience success on them, they will never get 'hooked', and they will stop using it before long.

Yes, but Tinder has been promoted so hard in the media that pretty much all foids either use it, use something very similar, or use what they can get on Tinder as a baseline for what they expect from men they meet in real life.

Though I'm not so butthurt about it because I was getting nothing even before dating apps or dating websites were a mainstream thing. The only difference now is guys I used to envy are in the same situation as me.
