Movement, reproduction, sensitivity, growth, respiration, excretion and nutrition. Those are the seven characteristics of living organisms. Viruses don't have any most of the time except for reproduction. That alone makes many think they are alive. But in actuality they are not alive. On the other side of the coin, you have most of them, except reproduction. Because you have the other six, it makes many think you are alive. But in actuality you are not a living organism. You're like an alien that really seems alive but isn't, like a virus. You lack the most important characteristic.
