Most sequels just ruin the legacy a really great film otherwise would have had. The worst is when a one hit wonder director fails in everything else and returns to the one successful project they had just to ruin it.

That was the entire point of the Joker 2: a middle finger to everyone that liked or even empathized with the movie. They overdid it so much that even normies hated it though.
A similar thing happened with Matrix 4. I think there is a phrase at the movie which goes: "Take the red pill and see how world really is".
It really doesn't need to stand on the Joker character. That movie can stand on its own.

I think Joker 2 has already been forgotten. It has had no impact on pop culture and nobody even bothered to watch it. It's one of those forgotten sequels that failed to live up to its predecessor. I just want to forget that it exists.
The original film is still a witty and memorable film. It spoke to a generation of outcasted men. People still reference it to this day. It never even needed a sequel.
I knew it was going to be a disaster as soon as I heard that it was going to be a musical. It became obvious that they resented the attention they got from us and they were looking to course-correct.
