1. "extremism always bad" = extremism
2. "extremism gives you convenient enemies to hate which makes you feel good" = makes extremists the enemy to shit on to feel good, literally the entire point of this comedy bit is to make fun of the enemy (extremists) to feel good about yourself (and your own flavor of extremism)
3. Using the word "extremism" assumes an objective, unchanging, indubitable ethical standard for what is extreme and what is not. This is a form of extremism.
4. "List of authorized enemies" - while he makes openly funny of extremists. We, incels, are such a group. Society acts very extreme against those it does not tolerate, while espousing the virtues of tolerance. What they actually mean is, if you conform to our definition of tolerance and normative ethics, then you are not an enemy of us, thus you will not face persecution. Again, extremism.

This may be hard to grasp for people, but the "democracies" of the west we live in are no more intolerant and extremist than lets say the medieval feudal system or any other form of governance. It just does not seem that way because we were raised in them and have grown accustomed to the standards of this system. Take for instance the next generation that will grow up with a comparatively highly neutered version of the internet, compared to us oldcels.

These kids will grow up with the reality that being raided by SWAT for saying "fuck you hoe" online is normal. It will just become a new social norm and not seem extreme to them at all. Our version of tolerance was seen as a form of extremism by those preceding it. Note, I say "our version of tolerance." Our ancestors were very tolerant of things we now consider extreme but also intolerant of things we now consider normal.

For instance, slaughtering animals in barbarous ways, glorifying warfare, children dressed as soldiers marching around with little sabers, kids playing with dangerous weapons outside without supervision - this was normal. If you saw a child gunning down rabbits and birds outside now, that little rascal would be arrested and psychologically evaluated "because he tortures small animals."

The dominant faction which ends up dictating the current ethical standards always paints themselves as the "sane" ones, as opposed to the "insane." Precisely what Cleese is doing in the video. There are no extremists, everyone is a dogmatist at the end of the day. The video is akin to a religious sermon by a puritan preacher in days past, though it does not seem that way to us. It serves to indoctrinate people with a certain view of the world, by using humor as a rhetorical tool.

He's right though.

I vote pretty right wing, and I spent a good 15-20 years being pretty active in the comments any time political issues were posted online by legacy media.

It didn't change anything, and it didn't make me any happier...

If I had to guess it's probably referring to not bringing attention to yourself, implying that if you go to either extreme of the jewlitical system you're an attention seeker out to bother/ be a nuisance to the general population.

lol I've known people like that who behave awfully but who blame their behaviour on their enemies.

One issue with that video even though it's funny is that... I'm not sure if he described the far-left and far-right but maybe just the left and right in general.

I guess the disliked groups tend to reduce in number and intensity as you get closer to the centre though.
