I've seen a bait and switch done by dualists materialists and that is the crime of reducing identity down to consciousness as a mechanistic thing or to separate consciousness all together from the brain Descartes demon.
Here is a fundamental flaw all of them don't seem to support parsimony.
To reduce consciousness down to pure illusion or to deny qualia ergo daniel dennet leads to Chalmers zombies .
To separate it from mind and body leads to Descartes demon.
What theory describes the truth with most parsimony ? rands theory of identity that conscious mind is the brain and is not an illusion it is a very real thing. You can't reduce qualia it is a fundemntal thing that exists.
Let's first attack the dualist view the idea that mind is separate from brain. issue right here leads onto the brain in a vat scenario and can never answer the hard problem.
The other 1 the materialist view does 2 arguments.
1 the libbetian argument the idea that somehow the sub consious making decisions before hand is somehow free will doesn't exist when such a view assumes 1 thing that the brain and consciousness are 2 separate things rather than the exact same thing.
If we accept that they are the exact same fucking thing then it's still you making the choice the brain however is just planning out the answers and seeing the possible solution the conscious agent acts as the actualizer from the potential paths given.
1 Libets experiment found humans subconscious made decisions couple second before.
2 Assume mind and brain are the same thing.
3 IF mind and brain are the same thing brain acts as the planner looking as the possible potentials mind is the actualizer.
C1 we have free will their is no disconnect with reality.
The other view is to assume the machine predicts the answers before you make them. Issues here what is a prediction ? a phenomena that you say will most likely occur before the event has. Occurred what is not a prediction ? seeing something after it has happened and saying that thing predicted the conscious choice when instead it acted as just observation tool.
