Don't you think? At least in developed countries.

Typically you can get by physically quite well (enough money and passable healthcare) but to thrive... you need a lifestyle that makes you feel fulfilled.

I think a big problem is it's hard to truly feel wanted as a man. At least back at school and in family life you were pretty wanted. As an adult often you can feel tolerated at best. Plus it's easy to make bad choices and lose focus.

Losing focus is quite easy to fix as you just have to try to remain true to yourself. Feeling wanted... I have no idea! It can get lonely for sure.

making a lot of assumptions here

Surviving being so easy has a big negative, I've seen a homeless person lay on a sewer at a freezing cold snowy winter night to warm up from the fumes, can't even find a photo of this on jewgle images. Was brutal.

I guess at the very least you can say that thriving is an additional big leap over surviving.

So you can successfully stabilise your life and have a reasonable income and so on, and still not truly feel happy.

I felt really happy when I was in my late teens but I had no idea how much was being handed to me on a plate, I just accepted that that's how life is.

Most people in "developed, first world" countries are scraping by. It's not living, it's staying alive. You can't enjoy life, because most are miserable trying to pay bills and have enough money from week to week.

Remember, the majority of people are in the slave class.
