And by short I mean average woman height (5'7" and under). Let's start with a dating pool that consists of all women who are within two years of your age.
First off, almost all women that are taller than you are off limits. Women universally prefer sexual/romantic relations with men taller than them so going after taller women is a waste of your time. Don't blame them, blame sexual dimorphism and the fact that you fail to conform to it. So if you're short that's already half of your dating pool.
Going after shorter women isn't really all that better either. Just because a woman is short doesn't necessarily mean she's into short guys or has to date them. Another one third of your dating pool is then cut away because there are still women that have height requirements or are genuinely not attracted to men below a certain height.
Then there are women who may not mind necessarily but have options, so that they can choose to date taller guys that are just overall better than you are. Take them out.
There are women who are insecure about their own height. Insecure short women don't want to look like the midget cute couple and be reminded of their shortness (although ironically a tall man makes her look like a midget but she can like vicariously through him). An average height woman will want to wear heels and likely will feel insecure wearing them around you if you're shorter than her. A tall woman has been tall all her life and just wants to feel feminine for once. So yeah, take any women with insecurities about stature out of your pool.
Then there are women who are insecure about how she might appear to her friends if she dates a short man. Women will shame their girl friends about dating shorter men or say things like, "You can do better." It's an unnecessary hit to a woman's social status, and why bother incurring that when you can just find someone taller and avoid this whole problem to begin with? So take all of those women out.
So really all you're left with is at most 10% of the original dating pool you've started out with that either don't care about height or prefer guys who are shorter. Even from that small dating pool, you have to find a girl who:
A) Is actually attracted to your physical appearance.
B) Is compatible with you.
C)Is someone that you are attracted to.
D)Doesn't have any other options.
For a woman to want to choose you over the rest of her other options as a short man, you really have to outcompete those other guys. You have to be really good looking facially, have the body of a Greek God, have strong socialization skills, be quite well known/popular, and be someone with the potential for making a lot of money. Only then will she choose you, if she doesn't find a guy who has everything you have but is taller.
And remember, this girl is super hard to find. Almost every girl you talk to will immediately consider you as a friend when she realizes how tall you are, so you are looking for a needle in the haystack.
That being said, these are the girls that you are mostly relegated to as a short man:
Girls that no other guy wants. These girls are either facially deformed or are fat. She's most likely not attracted to you, but you're the best she can do and you give her company. If she's fat and she ever loses the weight, prepare to be dumped or cheated on.
Women who reached an epiphany after 25 or 30 that height doesn't matter. Don't believe women like this. If a woman spent her whole life dating tall guys and then suddenly started considering short guys after she became old, it's not because she matured, it's because all the tall guys she was trying to date long-term either left her or got snatched up, she's getting tired of sex and looking to settle down, and finds you, a short guy who likely didn't get much female attention at all, a really good safety net, as it's likely you'll be gracious that she gave you a chance, and won't try to leave her. She'll begin to despise you anyways, and she'll leave you the minute a taller guy tells her he wants to marry her.
Single Mothers. Same idea. these women are not wanted by any men (because no men wants to raise another man's children), and intuitively think that short men are likely to give her a chance because she knows that short men don't get much attention from women. Again, you're just a safety net.
If the stars align, you could end up dating a unicorn, but the chances of finding a girl who doesn't just see you as a safety net and likes you the way you are is incredibly rare.
