sexual competition between males doesnt just mean that whoever is most attractive gets the woman. it also means that the last man standing gets the woman.

maybe these features are just byproducts of other advantageous features that were selected for. genetics is complicated as fuck.
like for example, maybe hideous bug eyes are somehow genetically linked to hyper aggressive behavior. then over time the bug eyed men literally exterminate all non bug eyed men, so only bug eyed men remain, which means they get all the pussy by default.
or just the result of strong in-group preference in general.
